Morrisville State women to make fourth straight appearance in NEAC tournament  

 

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) office announced its 2017-18 Championship Tournament field for women's basketball Late Saturday night, and for a fourth straight year, the Morrisville State College Mustangs will be making an appearance.

The Mustangs enter the tournament as the third seed in the North Division after finishing conference play with an 8-4 divisional record. They will face second seed Keuka College on Tuesday, Feb. 20 at 7 p.m. in the quarterfinal round held at Keuka.

SUNY Polytechnic claimed the overall top seed in the North Division, claiming the regular season championship title with an 11-1 divisional record. The Wildcats will host Cazenovia College at 8 p.m. on Tuesday at SUNY Poly.

In the South Division, fourth seed Penn St. Abington will travel to top seed Lancaster Bible Tuesday for an 8 p.m. tip-off. The other quarterfinal will feature third seed Penn St. Berks on the road at Gallaudet University at 7 p.m.

Following the conclusion of the first round games, the four remaining teams will be reseeded and the top seed will serve as host for the Final Four, which is scheduled for Feb. 24-25.

Morrisville State fell in both regular season meetings to the Wolves, with both decisions coming at a combined total of 11 points. In the last meeting on Jan. 23, the Mustangs fell in the final minute of the contest, 57-53.
