Walker leads Morrisville State women to convincing NEAC win over Penn College  

 

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Senior forward Charlotte Walker (Middle Island, N.Y.) led all scorers with 28 points Saturday afternoon, leading the host Morrisville State women's basketball team to a dominating 81-51 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) win over visiting Penn College on the Mustangs home court in Morrisville.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • Senior Charlotte Walker (Middle Island, N.Y.) led the Mustangs squad that got all around contribution to the conference win Saturday, netting 28 points while adding six rebounds, four assists and four steals to her tallies on the day.
  • Tori Rockefeller (South Kortright, N.Y.) continued to be an offensive threat from long range, hitting 4-of-5 from beyond the arc for a total 19 points, assisting three others.
  • Miranda Wright (Smyrna, N.Y.) and Anna Raymond (Owego, N.Y.) each added 10 points, while Raymond collected eight rebounds.
  • Morrisville State dominated the glass, outgaining the Wildcats 46-37 in rebounds. A-laya Wright (Henrietta, N.Y.) led all rebounders with 12.
  • Morrisville State led from the get-go, pouring in the first 19 points before Penn College able to put one on the scoreboard with three minutes to go in the first quarter.
  • The Mustangs took advantage of 14 Wildcat miscues, collecting 21 points off turnovers, while outscoring Penn College 18-10 in the paint in the opening half of play.
  • After leading 42-27 at the break, Morrisville State outgained the visitors 27-18 in the third, and 12-6 in the fourth securing the win.
  • Come game end, the Mustangs collected a total 27 points off turnovers, shot 45.6% from the floor, and outgained Penn 34-20 in the paint for the win.

WHAT'S NEXT:

  • The Mustangs will play host to Penn State Berks tomorrow at noon, and will honor Walker for senior day prior to tip off.
