Mustang Women Drop 7-2 Decision against Sacred Heart

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State Women's Ice Hockey team suffered their second straight loss on Saturday evening as they lost to visiting Sacred Heart 7-2 on their home ice.

After getting blanked by Utica College in their last game, the Mustangs got themselves on the scoreboard against Sacred Heart.  Unfortunately, it was too little too late as Morrisville's first goal of the game came after the visiting Pioneers had already put up four goals of their own.  Megan Kirk (Breezy Point, N.Y.) notched the first of the two Mustang goals as she broke free from the Pioneer defense and faked out the Sacred Heart goalie.

The Pioneers scored two more times in the game before Kanekaroroks McComber (Kahnawake, Quebec) picked up Morrisville's second goal of the game.  Similar to Kirk's goal, McComber sped through the Pioneer defense and beat the Sacred Heart goalie for the unassisted tally.

Sacred Heart ended up putting an exclamation point on their 7-2 victory with five minutes left in the game as they turned a Morrisville power play opportunity into a short-handed goal.

The Mustangs will need to rebound quickly as they face off again with Sacred Heart tomorrow afternoon at 12:30 PM.
