Morrisville Unable to Shut Down Oswego Offense, Fall 6-1

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – After a 4-1 loss the night before at Oswego State, the Mustangs hosted the Lakers in the return trip of the non-conference series.  Home ice was not kind for Morrisville State as they fell 6-1.

Similar to the night before, the Lakers scored first.  Unlike last night, the first Oswego goal did not come until late in the first period when Andrea Noss scored her third goal of the year on a power play with 3:15 remaining.

Oswego State's offense fired on all cylinders in the second period as they rattled off two goals within the first two and a half minutes of play.  With the score 3-0 in favor of the Lakers, they pounded home one more goal before the Mustangs could get on the board.

With just over six and a half minutes remaining in the second period, Kanekaroroks McComber (Kahnawake, Quebec) ripped a slap shot from the left side of the ice just over the blue line.  The Laker's goalie was in perfect position for the save except Kristen Iattarelli (Kinnelon, N.J.) got her stick on the puck for the re-directed goal.  The goal was Iatarelli's second of the season with McComber picking up her eighth assist on the play.

Unfortunately any comeback attempt by the Mustangs was quickly shut down by the Lakers who scored two more times in the first half of the third to put the game away for the 6-1 win.

The Mustangs will return to Colonial Hockey Conference action on Friday and Saturday, January 29 and 30.  Morrisville is currently tied with Stevenson University for first place overall in the conference with a 5-0-1 record.  Friday's game will begin at 7 PM, while Saturday's game will begin at 2 PM.
