Mustang Women Shut out Hawks 2-0

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State Women's Ice Hockey team ended their recent slide and captured a convincing Colonial Hockey Conference win over Becker College with a score of 2-0.

After a couple of penalties early in the first period, the Mustangs got on the board first when Kanekaroroks McComber (Kahnawake, Quebec) drove down the left side and pushed the puck across middle to Alicia Eamon (Williamstown, Ontario) who finished with a one-timer in the back of the net.

With the score staying at 1-0 in favor of the Mustangs, Morrisville pounded the Hawks with 16-5 shots on goal during the second period. With less than a minute left to go in the second period, the Mustangs earned their second goal of the game when Kelley Graham (Mississauga, Ontario) found the back of the net off a rebound from a shot by Kaitlyn Schlake (Nampa, Idaho).  Both Schlake and Bailey Dillabough (Massena, N.Y.) picked up assists on the play.

After holding the Hawks to a shut out through two periods, Mustangs' goalie Renee Schmaltz (Beaumont, Alberta) made 11 saves in the third period to ensure the shut out.

The Mustangs will finish up their Colonial Hockey Conference series against Becker College tomorrow at 2 p.m.
