Morrisville Can’t Withstand Endicott Comeback, Tie 2-2

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Mustangs wrapped up the final game of their Colonial Hockey Conference series at Endicott on Saturday afternoon, tying the Gulls 2-2 in overtime.

After dropping the first game of the series 2-1 at Endicott on Friday night, Morrisville came out and scored first late in the first period.  Ciara Lark (Mildmay, Ontario) gave the Mustangs the 1-0 lead on a power play goal just over 13 minutes into play.  Alicia Eamon (Williamstown, Ontario) and Kaitlyn Schlake (Nampa, Idaho) picked up the assists.

Both teams failed to score in the second period, despite the Mustangs giving the Gulls three power play attempts in the period.  After executing their penalty kill defense in the second, Morrisville came out and extended their lead to 2-0 just 3:27 into the third period.  This time around, Schlake and Eamon found Stephanie Strymecki (Kelowna, British Columbia) for the goal.

Unfortunately for the Mustangs, the Gulls found a way to break through Morrisville's penalty kill defense notching a power play goal just over six minutes into the third period, bringing the score to 2-1.

With just under a minute and a half remaining in the contest, Endicott pulled even at 2-2.  The score would remain 2-2 after neither team could score in the overtime period.

The Mustang women will return home next weekend for another Colonial Hockey Conference series against the top team in the conference, Stevenson University.  Puck is set to drop in the IcePlex at 7 PM on Saturday night and 2 PM on Sunday afternoon.
