MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Third seed Morrisville State College women's hockey saw their inaugural season come to an end Saturday, as they fell 5-0 to second seed Endicott College in the semi-final round of the Colonial Hockey Conference Championship Tournament held at Stevenson University in Maryland.
The Mustangs, whose program debuted in the fall for the first time in college history, conclude the season with a 10-14-3 overall record.
Renee Schmaltz (Beaumont, Alberta) registered 23 saves in the loss for Morrisville State, playing all but 22 seconds of the game between the pipes.
Endicott posted a two goal lead after the opening period, tallying scores at the 13:46 and 15:36 marks, both on the power play. Another score in the second extended the lead to three, before they put the game out of reach with two additional goals in the third, both of which came on power plays.
Vendela Jonsson collected the shut out, finishing with 21 saves to advance Endicott to the championship final.
Endicott will face Stevenson for the CHC title tomorrow at 4 p.m.
