MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State Women's Ice Hockey team improved to 8-0 after posting another shut out on Saturday afternoon with a 9-0 victory over the Bison from Nichols College in non-conference action.
Renee Stevenson (Winnipeg, Manitoba) highlighted the teams' effort with a three goal performance, while assisting on two others. Renee Schmaltz (Beaumont, Alberta) picked up the win between the pipes for Morrisville, recording 13 saves en route to her sixth shutout of the season.
In their second meeting of the season, the Mustangs wasted little time in getting their offense going, as Maria deWilde (Caistorville, Ontario) netted the first Morrisville goal, just fifteen seconds into play. Kylie Cameron (Burlington, Ontario) notched the assist, her fifth of the season.
Jessica Ujcik (Munich, Germany) picked up her first collegiate goal on a power play at the 7:51 mark in the first period. Stevenson tallied the assist. Just over four minutes later, Stevenson and Ujcik traded places as Stevenson picked up the first of her three goals on the afternoon with Ujcik getting the assist for a Morrisville 3-0 lead.
Maddison Devlin (Campbell River, British Columbia) and Stephanie Strymecki (Kelowna, British Columbia) picked up goals in the second period, as did Stevenson and deWilde.
Devlin and Stevenson capped off the Mustangs scoring in the third period. Devlin netted the team's 8th goal on a power play at the 4:08 mark in the third, her 7th of the season, while Stevenson notched her third goal of the game on a short-handed goal at the 10:14 mark.
The Mustangs will turn their attention to New England College as they continue a mid-season non-conference stretch on Sunday afternoon at 1 PM, before returning home on Friday, December 2 for the first of a home and away series against Utica College.
