Balanced Offensive Attack Leads Morrisville Women to 6-1 Win at Becker

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State Women's Ice Hockey team rebounded from a non-conference tie ten days ago with a 6-1 Colonial Hockey Conference victory on the road at Becker College on Friday night. 

Vanessa Klimpke (Winnipeg, Manitoba) tallied her 20th goal of the season to put Morrisville ahead 1-0 at the 2:45 mark in the first period.  Renee Stevenson (Winnipeg, Manitoba) picked up the assist.  Less than two minutes later, Becker evened the score as they converted on one of their two shots on goal in the period.  

Despite giving up the first period goal at the 4:05 mark, the Mustangs held the Hawks scoreless for the rest of the game.  In that time, five Mustangs found the back of the net to secure the 6-1 victory. 

Stephanie Strymecki (Kelowna, British Columbia) and Stevenson each notched their 7th goals of the season in the first period, while Kylie Cameron (Burlington, Ontario) tallied her 5thTaylor Finnie (Kamloops, British Columbia) collected her second goal of the season at the 17:44 mark in the second period.  Finally captain, Kanekaroroks McComber (Kahnawake, Quebec) picked up her fifth of the year a minute later to cap off the Morrisville scoring. 

In net for the Mustangs, Renee Schmaltz (Beaumont, Alberta) earned her 15th win while recording five saves in two periods of action.  Lillian Lewis (Anchorage, Alaska) recorded 4 saves in her twenty minutes of work in the third period. 

The Mustangs will look to earn the sweep and remain undefeated in conference play as they finish up their road series against Becker tomorrow at 5:40 PM.
