Mustang Women Tripped Up At #7 Middlebury in Non-Conference Contest

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State Women's Ice Hockey team took the ice for the first time in 2018, falling on the road at Middlebury, 4-1.

The 7th ranked Panthers controlled the contest from start to finish, outshooting the Mustangs 29-7 in the first two periods.  The shot differential paid off for Middlebury as they scored twice in the first period, and twice in the second period.

Morrisville responded in the third period, picking up seven shots on goal while holding the Panthers to 10.  The Mustangs were able to blank the hosts in the third period, but were unable to score themselves until four seconds left in the contest.

Jessica Ujcik (Munich, Germany) was able to put back the rebound from Ciara Lark's (Mildmay, Ont.) initial shot for her third goal of the season to prevent the shutout.  Lark along with Kaitlyn Schlake (Nampa, Idaho) tallied the assists.

The Mustangs will be forced to refocus quickly, as they travel back to their home ice for another non-conference matchup tomorrow afternoon.  Morrisville will host the Spartans from Castleton University at 3 PM in the IcePlex.
