BEVERLY, Mass. – The Morrisville State Women's Ice Hockey team continued their quest to defend their Colonial Hockey Conference title on Saturday evening, defeating the #2 seed Nichols College Bisons in the semifinal contest, 4-2.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- The Mustangs jumped on Nichols early doubling the #2 seed in the tournament's shot attempts 15-7, but were unable to find the back of the net until the later third of the first period.
- Mackenzie Lombardi (Hamilton, Ont.) collected the loose puck in front of the crease after Maria deWilde's (Caistorville, Ont.) initial shot to put the Mustangs up 1-0 at the 14:19 mark.
- Just over four minutes later, Morrisville picked up a key power play goal as Tessa Dobson (Moose Factory, Ont.) laid out in front of the crease to just get her stick on Alexziz Giannamore's (Pittsburgh, Pa.) pass to re-direct it into the net for the 2-0 lead. Also assisting on the goal was Kaitlyn Schlake (Nampa, Idaho).
- The Mustangs converted on another critical power play thirteen minutes into the second period. Kylie Cameron (Burlington, Ont.) found a window between the pads of Nichols' goaltender to give Morrisville a 3-0 lead. Maddison Devlin (Campbell River, B.C.) and Giannamore were credited with the assists.
- However, the Bisons would not go away, notching their first goal of the game on a power play strike of their own just thirty nine seconds later in the second period.
- Nichols continued to swing the momentum in their favor, cutting the Morrisville lead to just one at the 18:19 mark in the second period.
- Clinging to just a one goal lead heading into the third, the Mustangs went into clock management mode, controlling the puck for the majority of the third period.
- The Bisons continued to push, getting two quality looks at the net late in the third, but back-to-back penalties gave the Mustangs a 5v3 skater advantage at the 17:07 mark.
- Lombardi sealed the deal for Morrisville, converting on yet another power play opportunity at the 17:31 mark, for the 4-2 final score. Jessica Ujcik (Munich, Germany) picked up her 12th assist of the season on the goal.
- Collectively, the Mustangs converted on three of their four power play opportunities.
- Karoline Arvik (Trondheim, Norway) tallied 16 saves in the win for Morrisville.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Mustangs advance to the CHC Final against familiar foe, Endicott College tomorrow at 2 PM. The Gulls defeated the Nor'Easters from the University of New England in the other semifinal contest.
