Defending NEAC Champion, Morrisville State, tops women’s lacrosse preseason poll  

 

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) office released its Women's Lacrosse Preseason Poll, as voted by conference wide coaches, and after receiving six first place votes, ranked Morrisville State College as the season favorite heading into the 2018 campaign.

Morrisville State received 78 total points and will look to defend their title they captured a year ago, returning 11 to its roster that posted a 13-6 overall record, 8-1 conference stint in 2017.

Four all-conference selections return to the lineup, including attack Gianna Branca (Camillus, N.Y.), Celia Abbott (Shortsville, N.Y.) and midfielder Courtney Cavellier (Rodman, N.Y.) who combined for 209 points last season for the Mustangs.

Brianna Delcolle (Huntington, N.Y.) also returns to the lineup after garnering all-conference accolades a year ago.

Penn St. Abington ranked second in the poll, receiving three first-place votes while totaling 68 points, after finishing as the conference runner-up and regular season champion.

Medaille College rounded out the top three with 58 points and one first place vote, finishing third in conference standings in 2017.

Morrisville State will get underway Saturday, March 3 on the road at non-conference opponent SUNY Oswego.
