Bice backstops Morrisville State women for thrilling 12-11 win over Potsdam  

 

POTSDAM, N.Y. – Freshman goalkeeper Kadi Bice (Lorraine, N.Y.) turned away one of 11 saves in the closing seconds Wednesday afternoon as the visiting Morrisville State Mustangs women's lacrosse team picked up a thrilling 12-11 win over host Potsdam in Potsdam.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • Freshman Kadi Bice (Lorraine, N.Y.) turned away one of her 11 game total saves with 3.8 seconds to go in the contest to secure a non-conference win over host SUNY Potsdam Wednesday afternoon in Potsdam.
  • Potsdam was awarded a free position and in an attempt to tie the contest in the closing seconds, Bice stepped forward to make the save and the Mustangs defense came up with the ground ball to seal the win.
  • Morrisville State led 5-2 at the half, before the home Bears steam rolled nine scores in the second to make it a one goal game.
  • Courtney Cavellier (Rodman, N.Y.) led the Mustangs with five goals, including the game winner on a free position with 3:24 to go in the contest. Cavellier added eight draw control wins to her tallies on the day.
  • Senior Celia Abbott (Shortsville, N.Y.) collected a hat trick behind her three goals, while junior attack Chelsea McNeal (Ithaca, N.Y.) contributed a five point effort with two goals and three assists.
  • Makenzi Santini (Fairport, N.Y.) and Melissa Lucciola (Monroe, N.Y.) rounded out the Mustang scoring with one goal apiece.
  • Morrisville State edged Potsdam in play on the draw, 13-12, and played even in shots at 30.

  • Morrisville State returns to the field Saturday, hosting Buffalo State College in a noon match on Drake Field in Morrisville.
