Morrisville State women overcome by Nittany Lions

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Defending North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) champion Penn State Berks women's soccer team scored three times in the first half and added four more tallies in the second to top host Morrisville State College by a 7-0 final Sunday afternoon in Morrisville.

With the win, the Nittany Lions improve to 3-2 overall and remain undefeated in conference play at 3-0. Morrisville State drops to 2-4-1, 1-3-0 in NEAC action.

Three players posted two scores each for the visitors, including Charlotte Pizzuto, while teammates Nicole Brigante and Keri Klimko added two apiece off the bench.

Dana Scarcinello added the final score, also assisting one.

Brianna Sorriento (Wynantskill, N.Y.) registered a collegiate high 12 saves despite the loss, nine in the first half of play.

Brooke Terrier (Hubbardsville, N.Y.) replaced Sorriento for the final 21 minutes of the contest, turning away two.

Paige Elmy recorded no saves in the first half of play for Penn St. Berks, before Kaylee Frapaul turned away one in the second half of action.

Morrisville State returns to play Saturday, September 24, hosting Keuka College in a 1 p.m. contest.
