Brennan nets hat trick as Mustang women outrun Bison

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Morrisville State College sophomore forward Kelly Brennan (Sauquoit, N.Y.) posted her first collegiate hat trick Saturday afternoon, as the visiting Mustangs collected the 7-0 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) win over host Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C.

The win is the second straight for the Mustangs who improve to 5-7 overall, 4-6 within conference play. Gallaudet drops to 2-11, 1-9 in NEAC action.

Morrisville State took a 1-0 lead at the 14:13 mark, as Jillian Hughes (Brookfield, N.Y.) scored off the feed from Jessica Adam (Avoca, N.Y.) on a ball that found its way through traffic.

Just over five minutes later, Ashley Capron (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) extended Morrisville State's lead to two, notching the tally in a one-on-one with Gallaudet goalkeeper Deltona Markel.

Brennan posted back-to-back scores, albeit 27 minutes apart. The first came at 20:11, just 21 seconds after Capron's tally, before posting her second unassisted goal of the day in the 48th minute from the middle of the box.

Capron and Hughes each added another to give Morrisville State the six goal advantage 60 minutes in, before Brennan capped off all scoring with her third for the hat trick at the 60:52 mark on a long strike that bounced over the head of Markel.

Angela Marriott (Peekskill, N.Y.) collected four saves in the shutout win as Morrisville State held the 25-7 advantage in shots over the Bison.

Markel finished with seven saves in the loss.

Morrisville State returns to the field tomorrow, on the road at Wilson College in a noon start.
