Brennan leads Morrisville State to win, records second hat trick

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – Visiting Morrisville State College women's soccer cruised to a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) victory Sunday afternoon, as sophomore forward Kelly Brennan (Sauquoit, N.Y.) posted her second straight hat trick in as many days as the visiting Mustangs earned a 5-1 decision over Wilson College in Chambersburg.

The win is the third straight for Morrisville State, who improves to 6-7-1 overall on the season, 5-6 in conference action.

Morrisville State jumped out to a 1-0 lead within the opening 10 minutes of the contest as Brennan knocked in the free kick sent in front of the net by forward Jessica Adam (Avoca, N.Y.) at the 9:44 mark.

Adams posted her second assist in the 22nd minute, sending the corner kick into the box and connecting with Jillian Hughes (Brookfield, N.Y.) for the header and 2-0 Morrisville State lead.

Just over seven minutes later, the Mustangs added a third score to carry the 3-0 lead into the break, as Ashley Capron (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) converted the penalty kick opportunity at 29:15.

Brennan posted back-to-back scores within a time span of 10 minutes in the second half to collect her hat trick, the first just two minutes into the final period, and her third of the day at the 56:05 mark.

Wilson was able to finally get past the Morrisville State defense in the 78th minute, netting the score on a free kick from the left side.

Angela Marriott (Peekskill, N.Y.) recorded two saves in the win for the Mustangs, as Morrisville State outshot the Phoenix 26-3 on the afternoon.

Morrisville State returns to the field Saturday, traveling to nearby Cazenovia College in a Route 20 Rivalry showdown.
