Morrisville State women fall to Oswego in season opener   

 

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College women's soccer team dropped the 2017 season opening contest Friday afternoon, as host SUNY Oswego captured the 7-0 non-conference win on their home field in Oswego.

Brianna Sorriento (Wynantkill, N.Y.) recorded the loss in net, appearing for 68 minutes while turning away eight. Brooke Terrier (Hubbardsville, N.Y.) appeared for the final 22 minutes in net, making four stops and allowing one score.

Oswego led 2-0 after the first half, netting the first tally just 25:12 into the contest on an own goal. The Lakers took a 2-0 lead with under a minute to go before the halftime period, on the cross sent to the middle of the box.

Within minutes into the second half, Oswego extended their lead to three, and then to four less than five minutes later.

The hosts closed out the half with three additional scores, claiming the victory, as they held the 40-2 advantage in shots on the day.

Morrisville State returns to the pitch Wednesday, hosting SUNY Canton in another non-league bout at 7 p.m. on Drake Field in Morrisville.
