Morrisville State women upended by Roos, 3-0   

 

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College women's soccer team dropped their second straight contest Wednesday night, falling to visiting SUNY Canton by a 3-0 final score on Drake Field in Morrisville.

The loss drops the Mustangs to 0-2 at the start of the young season. They return to the field Saturday, taking on SUNY Cortland in a 5 p.m. non-conference matchup on Drake Field.

Brianna Sorriento (Wynantskill, N.Y.) recorded the loss in net, making seven stops.

Canton struck early, netting the first score of the contest a mere seven minutes into the game as Katie Lamica put a curve on a direct kick along the sideline on the far side of the field, and placed the ball inside the right post for the 1-0 Roo lead.

The visitors took a quick two goal lead early in the second, as Jaedyn Ossont stole the ball and fed it forward to Kristina DiNardo for the one touch score around Sorriento in the 48th minute.

DiNardo added a second score on the night at 62:26, collecting the breakaway ball and chipping it past Sorriento for the 3-0 Canton lead.

Allison Wakefield recorded the win for the Roos, turning away seven as Canton improved to 2-1 on the season.
