Women’s soccer nets come from behind NEAC win over Wells

AURORA, N.Y. – Visiting Morrisville State College women's soccer posted a 2-1 comeback victory over host Wells College in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action held Saturday in Aurora.

The win is the second for the Mustangs in conference play as they up their NEAC record to 2-1, posting an overall record of 2-6 to date on the season.

Brianna Sorriento (Wynantskill, N.Y.) recorded the win in net for Morrisville State, turning away six, including two in the second half of play.

Wells took advantage of an open post a mere 3:30 into the contest for the early 1-0 lead, connecting on the cross from the left for the tap in on the right post.

But moments later, Morrisville State got an evening tally in the 11th minute as a forward feed from freshman Casey Watson (Stamford, Conn.) led to a one-versus-goalie breakaway for sophomore midfielder Jessica Adam (Avoca, N.Y.). Adam knocked the ball past the Express keeper to tie the game at one apiece.

The Mustangs battled throughout the second half and got a break at the 71:52 mark when freshman Jessica McGee (Lebanon, Conn.) intercepted the misplayed ball and fired the eventual game winner from 23-yards out into the back of the net for the 2-1 visitor advantage.

Morrisville State returns to the field Wednesday, hosting Southern Vermont in a 3 p.m. non-conference bout on Drake Field in Morrisville before resuming conference play on the 7th against defending NEAC champion Penn St. Berks.
