Morrisville State women close season in NEAC quarterfinals   

 

MARCY, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College women's soccer team closed out the 2017 season Tuesday afternoon as they dropped a 3-1 final decision to SUNY Polytechnic in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) quarterfinal round held at SUNY Poly in Marcy.

Morrisville State ends the season with a 6-10-1 overall record.

SUNY Poly was first to strike, netting the game's first score at the 7:17 mark before the Mustangs Madison Shoemaker (Caledonia, N.Y.) evened the contest at one as she put the ball away after collecting the deflection off the Wildcat keeper.

That score would stand until late in the contest when the Wildcats buried two within a seven minute span to seal the win.

The first came in the 74th minute off the foot of McKenna Hungerford, before Nakeya Stedman added a second of the day at the 80:32 mark.

Brianna Sorriento (Wynantskill, N.Y.) recorded three saves in the loss.

The tournament appearance was the first for the Mustangs in program history.
