Mustangs topple College of St. Elizabeth

MORRISTOWN, N.J. – Freshman forward, Angelina Rinaldi (Huntington Station, NY) put the Mustangs on the scoreboard in the first 5' of the game and the Mustangs never looked back en route to 6-0 win over host, The College of St. Elizabeth on Sunday afternoon.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • Rinaldi opened up the scoring for Morrisville State after connecting with the ball off a cross from junior midfielder, Madison Shoemaker (Caledonia, NY) at the 4:38 mark of the first half.
  • The Mustangs connected with the back of the net two more times before heading into halftime with a 3-0 lead. Sophomore defender, Shay Franklin (North Norwich, NY) recorded her fifth goal of the season off of a pass from freshman midfielder, Kayla Kelly (North Babylon, NY) in the 24' minute. With less than 8 minutes to go in the half, sophomore forward, Jessica McGee (Lebanon, CT) found freshman forward, Shelby Allen (Galway, NY) for the tap in. Allen's score marked the first of her collegiate career.
  • In the 52' of the second half, Shoemaker capitalized after a scramble in front of the net, collecting her second goal in three games for the Mustangs.
  • Freshman defender, Zoe Costello (Kingston, NY) and sophomore midfielder, Michaela Fazio (Norwich, NY) rounded out the scoring for Morrisville State in the second half, scoring goals in the 61' minute and the 70' minute, respectively.
  • With the win, the Mustangs extend their win streak to three consecutive wins on the season.
  • Eight Mustangs recorded at least one point in the victory, with all five goals coming from separate players to even out the stat sheet.

WHAT'S NEXT

The Mustangs are back in action this Tuesday, when they travel to SUNY Cortland for a non-conference match up, slated to start at 6:00pm.
