Mustang women drop heartbreaker to Lancaster Bible

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State women's soccer team wasn't able to overcome a late second half goal, falling 2-1 to visiting Lancaster Bible College on Sunday afternoon on Drake Field. The Mustangs fall to 6-10-1 overall and 5-4-1 in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play, while the Chargers now improve to 6-6-2 overall, and 5-3-2 in conference action.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • Lancaster Bible netted the first goal of the contest at the 36:52 mark when Maddie Dionne connected with a cross just in front of the goal box. The Mustangs went into halftime trailing the Chargers 1-0.
  • Freshman forward, Angelina Rinaldi (Huntington Station, NY) scored the equalizer at the 72:53 mark, striking the ball just inside the goal box and deflecting off a Lancaster Bible defender before passing the Charger's goalkeeper, Erin Mikula.
  • The Charger's, Kiersten Hatch registered the eventual game-winning goal with just 7:29 remaining in the game, heading the ball off of a corner kick. The assist was credited to Samantha Koons.
  • Lydia Young recorded 5 saves in the loss for the Mustangs, playing all 90' between the pipes for Morrisville State. Lancaster Bible's, Erin Mikula posted 1 save in the win.

The Morrisville State women's soccer team wraps up regular season play next Saturday, when they host SUNY Poly at 1:00pm on Drake Field.
