Morrisville State women cruise to 5-0 win over Poly on Senior Day  

 

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Morrisville State women's soccer picked up a 5-0 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) win on Senior Day, behind the play of freshman Angelina Rinaldi (Huntington Station, N.Y.) who collected two goals and assisted another two on a soggy, cold Saturday afternoon in Morrisville.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • Angelina Rinaldi (Huntington Station, N.Y.) collected the Mustangs first score of the day in the 12th minute, receiving the ball in the center of the box and turning the defense for the score. Madison Shoemaker (Caledonia, N.Y.) was credited with the assist.
  • Rinaldi made it 2-0 at the 23:05 mark, getting behind the defense for the one-timer off the downfield pass from Emily Racaniello (Fairport, N.Y.).
  • In the 50th minute, Rinaldi added an assist as she chipped the ball back to fellow freshman Zoe Costello (Kingston, N.Y.) nailing the ball from 25-yards out just under the top left cross bar for the tally.
  • Shoemaker posted one of her own off a direct kick to the left of the box, heading the ball over the hands of the Poly keeper for a 4-0 Mustang lead at 56:34.
  • Justine Quay (Galway, N.Y.) collected her first collegiate score to seal the win in the 70th minute.
  • Senior Brianna Sorriento (Wynantskill, N.Y.) collected the shut out on senior day, making one stop in the second half of action as Morrisville State limited Poly to just four shots total on the day.

  • Morrisville State will wait for the conference to announce its post-season tournament seeding.
