MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) has released its 2017 Division III All-Region Teams, naming Morrisville State sophomore duo Megyan Merrill (Millport, N.Y.) and Samantha Wolf (Liverpool, N.Y.) to its honorable mention Northeast All-Region team.

Merrill and Wolf were part of a unit that captured its first North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Tournament Championship Title, made their first ever appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament, and set a program record for wins in a single season as they finished 24-7 on the season campaign.

Merrill, a first team All-Conference selection for the NEAC, wrapped up a stellar sophomore season with 358 kills, a .255 hitting percentage, 22 assists, 38 service aces, and 15 total blocks, while accumulating 404 points for the Mustangs.

Averaging 3.65 kills per set and 4.12 points per set, Merrill ranked 55th and 58th, respectively, in all of Division III in both categories, while ranking second overall in the NEAC.

A two-time All-Conference selection, Merrill started 31 matches for Morrisville State as an outside hitter.

Wolf started 29 matches for Morrisville State as a libero, and across 98 sets, amassed 540 digs while contributing 31 service aces and 90 assists to her tallies on the season.

A two-time All-Conference honoree, Wolf averaged 5.51 digs per set on the year, ranking 38th in Division III and second overall in conference play.

Wolf was also named the 2016 Defensive Player of the Year for the NEAC, and along with Merrill, earned several Player of the Week accolades throughout the season.

AVCA selects the top 20 players from each region to name to its All-Region and Honorable Mention teams. Both Merrill and Wolf are the first to earn the accolade for Morrisville State in program history.
