Morrisville Picks up 3-1 Win against Wilkes, but fall 3-0 to RIT at Cortland Invitational

CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Morrisville State Volleyball team dropped the first set of the morning to Wilkes University, but roared back to win three straight sets to complete the 3-1 non-conference victory.  Unfortunately, the Tigers from the Rochester Institute of Technology proved to be too much for the Mustangs as they fell 3-0 in their final match at the Cortland Invitational.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW 

  • Kim Dunkleman (Williamsville, N.Y.) tallied 30 assists as she orchestrated the offensive attack in the first match against Wilkes.
  • Kirsten Florio (Wellsboro, Pa.) and Elycia Crittenden (Louisville, Ky.) picked up 8 and 7 kills respectively in the victory over Wilkes.
  • 17 hitting errors cost the Mustangs in the second match loss against RIT.
  • On the day, libero Sam Wolf (Liverpool, N.Y.) collected 31 digs and came up big with her serve, tallying 4 aces. 

WHAT'S NEXT 

The Mustangs will return to North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play next Saturday, October 6 as they head to the College of St. Elizabeth for a divisional crossover event.  Morrisville will start the day against Penn State-Abington at noon, before taking on the College of St. Elizabeth at 2 PM.
