Morrisville State women host first meet in over two decades, finish ninth overall   

 

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College women's cross country team hosted their first invitational in over two decades Saturday, completing the 6K race with a ninth overall team finish out of 13 competing teams.

Raylene Wade (Red Creek, N.Y.) led Morrisville State with her 16th overall finish, posting a time of 27:36, as teammate Bailey Dillabough (Massena, N.Y.) followed with a time of 29:55, finishing 30th individually.

Tori Stopen (Marcellus, N.Y.) scored third for the Mustangs, crossing the line in 30:52, a 34th place finish.

Zoe Bender (Chittenango, N.Y.) and Maura Hager (Binghamton, N.Y.) rounded out Morrisville State team scoring, crossing in 34:14 and 35:08, respectively, for a 55th and 58th individual finish.

Kennedy Cox (Blythe, Calif.) crossed in 35:12 in her first collegiate race, while teammate Emily Cheney (Redfield, N.Y.) finished 17 seconds later among the field of 96 runners.

Sidney Trunzo (Penn College) was the individual champion for the women, posting a time of 24:45.6, besting the second place finisher by nearly 45 seconds.

SUNY ESF placed all five scoring runners in the top 8 to claim the overall team title at the meet.

Morrisville State will hit the road in two weeks at the Roberts & Wesleyan Invitational.
