Morrisville Wins Home Opener 3-0 against Salem State

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State Women's Ice Hockey team is 3-0 after posting their third consecutive shutout victory on Friday night.  The Mustangs defeated the visiting Salem State Vikings 3-0 in both teams' Colonial Hockey Conference openers.

Morrisville got their home crowd excited early, on a Vanessa Klimpke (Winnipeg, Manitoba) goal, just over four minutes into the game.  Renee Stevenson (Winnipeg, Manitoba) and Kanekaroroks McComber (Kahnawake, Quebec) notched assists on the play.

The Mustangs extended their lead eight minutes later when Kylie Cameron (Burlington, Ontario) found the back of the net after redirecting an initial shot by Kimberly Hughes (Lloydminster, Alberta).  Stephanie Strymecki (Kelowna, British Columbia) also picked up an assist on the play.

Despite thirteen shots on goal, Morrisville did not post their third goal until just two minutes remained in the second period.  Maddison Devlin (Campbell River, British Columbia) punched through the power play goal, while Hughes and Strymecki picked up their second assists of the night.

Renee Schmaltz (Beaumont, Alberta) picked up her third win and third shutout of the season while recording 12 saves.
